Tiaras have gone in and out of fashion throughout history. Rather than a fashion item they were originally a symbol of power and mostly riches and in ancient Egypt. They were on statues of gods and priests with many elaborate jewels and designs to showcase their royalty. Later on highly regarded French court members were wearing elegant tiaras filled with jewels in the early 1800’s. This begun the trend of them being worn at weddings during this time.
By the early 1900’s, they were a common symbol of royalty and wealth. As jewelers began to make more varieties, including more affordable pieces, tiaras became more and more popular at weddings.
Today, brides wear tiaras for a touch of elegance, removing the veil at her reception to showcase the design. So now days as they are more commonplace they are a great piece for Brides, bridesmaids and most definitely flower girls!
